Really good change. I dont think the macroers will go to low sec though, they will just continue with normal ore in safe space. But at least players willing to organize themselfs in low sec and defend their operations will have good chances to get some really good ore again.

Originally by: kieron This is not being looked at as the end-all to dealing with macro-miners and players who abuse the resources in high-sec areas, there are other measures being looked into. Also, not all the high-sec resources are going away.
The point is, it doesn't make sense for someone to be mining 23/7 in Jita, when there are 4,999 other systems, most of which are not on high-traffic nodes, to mine and gather resources from.
Although I wrote the news item with a decided anti-macrominer tone, load balancing also had an effect on the depletion decision.
This will only affect the load balancing i think. Macro miners will move and continue in other systems like before. Its a shame actually... i thought you guys would remove all ice from empire, to promote miners working together in a hostile environment (low sec) and even make guarding them a valid thing to do for some corps. Would also remove the macroers from the ice completely. Why do you feel this is not a good idea?

People read the news and then post, without going through all the replies in the thread. Nothing strange about it.

Its obvious that Jita is amongst them, even though there is no specifics.

Why is it a bad idea to remove all ice in safe space? If anything, low sec mining should be made alot more rewarding so teamwork mining there is really worth it.
For the ones with mining barges, you would take it into low sec if there was some really big money to be made there. If you could replace it in a hour of mining for example. Maybe you already can, im not a miner.
But expecting to be able to sit in empire, while afk, and letting the iskies flow, is lame. You have normal ore there for that sort of thing.
